Karen McManus has done it again. She has released another absolute banger of a book and I cannot wait for everybody to get their hands on it. It is a good one!

What is the book about?

‘The Storys are the envy of their neighbours: owners of the largest property on their East Coast island, they are rich, beautiful, and close. Until it all falls apart. The four children are suddenly dropped by their mother with a single sentence:

You know what you did.

They never hear from her again.

Years later, when 18-year-old cousins Aubrey, Milly and Jonah Story receive a mysterious invitation to spend the summer at their grandmother’s resort, they have no choice but to follow their curiosity and meet the woman who’s been such an enigma their entire lives.

This entire family is built on secrets, right? It’s the Story legacy.

This summer, the teenagers are determined to discover the truth at the heart of their family. But some secrets are better left alone.’

What did I think?

Wow, so this book has a different take on it to the previous books but it certainly did not disappoint either. This one was full of a lot of family story and background, some mystery and then some absolutely shockers too. I would highly recommend giving this a read straight away!

A really great, fast paced read that keeps you hooked throughout. I have decided to do a reading diary below, so you can see my thoughts throughout the book!

Reading Diary

0-30% – okay, so we have grasped the location and concept of the book so far. I am already invested in the characters and am excited to see what else happens! Something pretty big has just happened too towards the 30% mark so I HAVE to read on!

30-62% – I can’t put it down! Every time I go to put it down for a little bit, something else happens and I have to know more! So we have discovered a whole range of characters now and seen a small part of how they are entwined with the story. So now we just have to wait and see what all of the secrets are!

62-100% – Okay, I cannot stop. This has to be finished. There is so much arising with this story right now and I just have to keep going. We have found out a lot more detail about the family background, things are starting to take place and make sense too. Ahh!
