.It is that time of year again, where people reflect on the year that has passed and aim to make more improvements for the future. My aims, goals, achievements in one post..
2017 went way too quickly, in my eyes. The beginning of the year started with me being half way through my first year of university. As most of you know, this is my second time at university and I have more passion for my course than ever. I got the courage to take control of my dreams and to push myself to study a degree that I want to do for the rest of my life. And boy, am I glad that I did?
This year, I feel like I have become a completely different person within my animation studies. I have overcome so many hurdles, learnt so so many new methods and softwares. I am now at the point of feeling pretty comfortable with the skills I have learnt and now 2018 can be dedicated to perfecting those skills.
For myself personally, I feel like my anxiety has taken a huge turn for the better. Anxiety-wise I am much calmer, I can think straight and it all helps with a bit of space and peace and quiet!
I made so many new friendships in 2017. Some of them are the greatest people I have ever met. I wouldn’t ask for anybody else and they mean the world to me. I ended a relationship that in my eyes, wasn’t working and I hope he has gone onto making great things for himself too. Being in a relationship that doesn’t work can really take it’s toll on you in many ways. In all honesty, I needed the space and time to concentrate on myself and if in a relationship, then with someone who supports me. I love to keep myself busy and always find things to improve on. But since then, I have become a much happier and confident person that can now fully dedicate the time to improve my skills and aspirations.
My aims and goals
Again, this is going to be filled with the more ‘educational’ side of things. I have finally ‘found’ where I fit in in the Animation/VFX industry. I have gone down the artist route, where I will model, sculpt and texture. I am aiming to be able to apply for VFX companies in London as soon as I graduate and for my work to be to their acceptance standards.
I really want to try to keep up with blogging whilst at university, which is a struggle. But if I focus on my main interests, then hopefully it will come easier during the tougher times.
For 2018, I would also love to set time aside so that I can visit friends and family more often. I feel like this is so important to keep that balance, especially when I am really busy. I have learnt that sometimes you just need to push everything to the side for the evening and let your hair down. I am definitely working on trying to feel guilt-free when giving myself these short breaks, but it does create a positive impact on my progress.
So, here’s to 2018..
It is really great to look back and think of the positives from the year just gone. People tend to think of the year gone past as a negative. Which should lead to a positive in the future. But for me, I like to see how far I have come and how I can make it even better for the next upcoming year. I would love to know if any of you have any goals or aspirations for 2018. Let me know in the comments or on any of my social media channels! What did you do well on? Did you experience something completely different? Did you make a friendship to remember?
