You are in for a ride with this book..
Harrow Lake is an eerie and gripping book, once I started it I could not put it down. Firstly, you start off with the daughter that comes home to see that her horror film director dad has been stabbed in their apartment. If that is not enough to keep you hooked, then I don’t know what is..
What is the book about?
Firstly, the dad is a horror film creator and one of his most famous films was based in his hometown, Harrow Lake. This made the town become famous and they still stay in character to this day. ANYWAY.
So as I mentioned, it starts off with an interview transcript where a reporter asks the father about the disappearance of his daughter. After this, it switches to 6 months previous, and that it where the stabbing happens. You are then taking through the story via the daughters perspective. She has to stay with family as the dad recovers in hospital, so she visits Harrow Lake..
This is where the story really takes you on an adventure. I am not going to go into the details but it will definitely keep you hooked and discover so many different things. You will many several characters, some creepy, some just plain weird and you will keep thinking about these after reading it.
What did I think of the book?
I had that feeling where you’ve been so submerged in the story, that once you’ve finished it you sit there and process it for five minutes. In this case, so much happened in this book that I was still thinking about it an hour later.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. When I first started it, I enjoyed it but I thought okay, I guess I know what kind of story it will be. Boy, was I wrong..
Expect a lot of action, twists and tense moments.
