WOW. This book!
I will start with the basics. This book is based on Beauty & The Beast, so a girl from a human village has to fend for her family as they aren’t very fortunate any more. She has to go out and hunt for animals for their food, clean the house and basically look after them in any way possible.
One very wintery day, she goes into a forest that people wouldn’t dare to go in as there is a magical realm on the other side of the wall, which doesn’t have a great reputation amongst the villagers. To cut it short, she shoots a wolf with her bow and arrow and immediately kills it. She runs home and that evening, they have a very unexpected visitor from the magical realm that takes her away to live in their kingdom as a wrath for what she has done.
It involves love, hate, blood, magic, villains, creatures..
I won’t say any more than that, but you might be able to get a small jist of the book from the Beauty And The Beast reference.
This book captured me within the first chapter, I was hooked. Although, I felt like it got slow after about 25% but it starts to pick up again at about 45% onwards. And definitely, definitely picks up and makes you hooked again at 50%+.
I highly recommend reading this book and I’m pretty sure that there is going to be a sequel to this, which I cannot wait for!
I couldn’t put this book down yesterday as I was reading the last 40%, I literally read wherever I possibly could – on the bus, in Starbucks and I even got into bed at 7pm just so I could read!
Have any of you read this book? Did you enjoy it? I know that there’s quite a lot of hype around this at the moment and I certainly look forward to reading some of Sarah J Maas’ other books in the future!
